TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

To visit Brazil a valid passport is needed, expiring not earlier than 6 months from arriving date. Visas are not required. On board you will be given an application to fill up, letting you remain in the Country up to 3 months. |
VACCINATIONS
|
No inoculation is required. Nevertheless, those who plan to visit Amazonas, Pantanal and Mato Groso are warmly recommended to take yellow fever vaccination and a marsh fever prophylaxis. |

Brazil has got four different local times: Fernando de Noronha archipelago, GMT - 4. Eastern and south eastern strips till the Capital Brasilia, GMT – 5. Pantanal and the Amazonas, GMT - 6. The western part of the Country, GMT - 7 |
CURRENCY

The official currency is the Real, worth 0.35 EUR and 0.45 USD on April 20th, 2009. Major credit cards are honoured; foreign currencies can be exchanged at banks and Exchange Bureaus. |
CLIMATE
|
Seasons are opposite to those of our hemisphere and, considering the great extension of the country, are very diversified. We can roughly distinguish four types: equatorial, tropical, semiarid and subtropical. All towns situated in the valleys, as Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Belo Horizonte enjoy a mild climate, with temperatures ranging the 19ºC, while those on the coast, like Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Salvador have a warmer climate, mitigated by the continuous breeze from the Pacific Ocean and have an average temperature between 23ºC and 27ºC. In the south of the Country, climate is subtropical and in winter the thermometer can even drop below zero. In the Amazonas area temperatures vary between 22ºC and 26ºC. The hottest part of Brazil is the North eastern one, where, in the dry season, temperatures can pass the 38ºC. Most part of the Country is characterized by modest rainfalls, especially concentrated in the Summer, between December and April. |
CLOTHING

Generally speaking, informal clothing is advisable, with light dresses and comfortable shoes. Keep handy a hat, sun glasses and tanning lotion. |
ELECTRICITY

Electricity varies according to the different places: either 110 or 220 volts; an adaptor will be needed |
LANGUAGE
|
The official language is Portuguese, but English is commonly spoken all over the Country. Spanish is widely spread in the south. |
