SYDNEYFounded in 1788 Sydney is the oldest and largest Australian city, always competing with Melbourne, to be considered the most important city of the nation. Without a doubt, Sydney can be considered: the financial, commercial and cultural heart of Australia, an important destination for both, local and international tourism, blessed with a warm and pleasant climate and with a cosmopolitan culture, winner of many awards for its incontestable beauty and for its standard of living, worldwide known are: the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House, the enchanting coastline with its renowned beaches, amongst which Bondi, paradise of the surf enthusiast. ULURU (AYERS ROCK)Placed, very much inland of the continent, Uluru, apart from being the most imposing massif of Australia, it is also a mystical and sacred place for the aboriginal population, set amidst boundless plains, can be spotted from a distance of miles, celebrated for its intense crimson colour which changes with the different light of the day, passing from golden to purple, always creating a different evocative atmosphere. PERTHSet on the western shores of MELBOURNEFirst established in 1835 by a group of Tasmanian businessmen, Melbourne had its period of major growth again during the gold race age. The event brought in fact a large number of immigrants from all over the world: in a very short time Irish, Chinese, Vietnamese, French and Italian people landed on the shores of Melbourne, making the city grow disproportionally, mixing the different ethnic groups together with great influence on its architectural style and on the mentality of the city’s inhabitants. As of today Melbourne has earned its own special charm, it is renown for fashion, theatre, art galleries, its wide avenues, fountains and the great public gardens. ADELAIDEExtremely tidy in its layout, with its beautiful parks and wide avenues, Adelaide is quaintly located in a panoramic position, between Gulf St Vincent and the low Lofty mountains. The city is mainly known for its rather large number of churches, even though presently pubs and nightclubs are much more numerous. BRISBANEBorn as a penal colony in 1824, Brisbane is the third most important Australian city in terms of magnitude, having the look and dimensions of a big metropolis yet without having the frantic pace that characterizes all others. Lively and cosmopolitan, with a pleasant climate all year long, Brisbane is rich of lush gardens, dated buildings, various interesting neighbourhoods and particular panoramic spots.
KAKADU NATIONAL PARKThis spectacular park covers a surface of circa 20,000 square km, characterized by a lush rainforest entirely populated by birds, mammals, insects, reptiles and amphibians. Kakadu is one of the richest parks in the world and the biggest in Australia. It is located at 220km from Darwin and is also known for its spiritual aboriginal centres, with their painted rock walls of incomparable beauty. |
